Denver Parks Forestry staff is at work in Congress Park neighborhood
With the help of the Community Forester volunteers from The Park People, Forestry staff have identified addresses in the neighborhood that have public right of way trees that are blocking stop signs or have limbs that hang low over the sidewalks. On August 4th, staff will prune the identified trees so the stop signs can be seen clearly and so that citizens can use the sidewalks without obstruction. This work will improve both safety and convenience in the areas. The trained Community Forester volunteers will be helping to complete this pruning work under the close supervision of Forestry staff.
To ensure that the property owners are aware that this work will be performed, Denver Parks mailed a postcard to the impacted residents outlining the project and the Code that governs stop sign and sidewalk clearance. This postcard provides contact information so that residents can opt out of DPR completing the pruning if the residents wish to complete the required pruning work themselves by August 4. Once a tree has been pruned by DPR, the removed limbs will be cut into smaller pieces and neatly stacked so the resident can have them removed on the regular trash collection day.
The project on the 4th will clear all the blocked stop signs in the neighborhood and a portion of the sidewalks. DPR will be returning to the neighborhood to complete the sidewalks on a later date this fall after we reach out to the residents in the same way we did for the upcoming pruning day.
