It’s time to get over the shibboleth that opposition to Walmart stores only comes from “elitists.”

Denver Post columnists, assorted letter-writers and bloggers have tarred and feathered Walmart opponents with that label, but it’s time for a closer look.

One writer described the problem as “Wal-Mart versus Congress Park.” Not so. More like Congress Park, South City Park, Mayfair, big chunks of Park Hill, Hilltop, Bellevue-Hale, and many other Denver voters who do not want a Walmart in the center of Denver.
