CBHD Memo Dec 26, 2012
Dear CBHD Board Members,
Thank you for your time and dedication to the CBHD throughout 2012. It was a challenging and somewhat tumultuous time, and your perseverance through it was greatly appreciated. I’m so sorry it became quite difficult at times.
We have several challenges as we begin 2013. I’ll briefly mention them here and then we can discuss them in greater detail at our next meeting.
1. It is clear that the 9th and Colorado redevelopment has reached a point that other venues are now more appropriate for the dissemination of future information regarding the plan and the GDP. Please be aware that the Mayor’s Office, DURA and Council Districts’ 5 and 10 may have separate meetings to inform us as the Board, and the public, regarding new information and changes occurring to structure, financing, tenant mix, land use etc. Our meetings have always been the first public distribution concerning the District, but we have reached a level of complexity and public awareness that multiple sources will present and disseminate information.
You should all be very pleased with the guidance and leadership you’ve shown to help the redevelopment process obtain its current level. Now it seems appropriate that our advisory role should defer to the next stage of the process to be led by the Mayor’s Office, DURA and City Council, in conjunction with the University, the Developers and all other affected parties.
I am sure as a Board that each of us will offer whatever support we can to aid in the process of bringing redevelopment to fruition.
2. As promised at the last meeting, we need to consider and vote on potential new meeting times. As we left it, we would hold an electronic vote on the following meeting times: 5:00, 5:30 or 6:00.
When mulling this over, please remember that the Board is charged with all business of the District, NOT just the redevelopment of the former Health Sciences Center. Please also take into consideration the feelings of those you represent, both neighborhoods and institutions.
We’ll take the vote in January after the holidays when life is less chaotic.
3. There is still a desire from some members of the Board to have a website dedicated exclusively to the CBHD where interested members of the public can go to see our history, past and current minutes, and guiding documents. Since we have no source of funds, we can consider asking for donations from each member organization and/or volunteers to help establish, update and maintain a site. Again, this is an issue for after the holidays.
4. Many thanks to Lisa Bingham for volunteering to record the minutes so we can post them on all applicable web-sites. As a group I know we’re all very grateful, Lisa.
Lastly, may each of you have a very Happy New Year – rest, relax, and enjoy family and friends – and regroup for whatever is to come in 2013.
Best,
Mary Nell Wolff
