Getting Organized!
The Congress Park Green Team (CPGT) is making exciting progress as a new organization. In addition to the excellent planning and preparation work going into our upcoming Earth Day Festival on April 23rd, we have also officially convened a CPGT Steering Committee. The steering committee held it’s first meeting on March 10th with the following members in attendance: Becky Coughlin, Patrick Treleani, Liz Goehring, Maggie Price, Joan Gregerson, Kimberly Rickards and Emily Hunter. Notes from this first meeting are posted on the Congress Park Green Team webpage. This committee will be working on setting up the appropriate structure and by-laws necessary to help the Green Team achieve its purpose.
One of the first items under consideration by the Steering Committee was whether we should apply to Denver’s Sustainable Neighborhood Network (SNN) Program. After reviewing information on the program and discussing pros/cons, the committee unanimously approved applying to the program. In a nutshell, this SNN program is seen as a well-defined and successful framework/structure to help us continue to grow as a green team and as a neighborhood working towards a sustainable/green future. CPGT members in attendance at the Saturday March 12 meeting also unanimously supported pursuing the sustainable neighborhood certification, so we are on our way! Notes from this meeting are also posted on the Congress Park Green Team webpage.
Please stay tuned for more information on this exciting SNN program. There will be many ways to become involved and we’ll need your ideas, experience and enthusiasm!
All the best,
Liz Goehring and Becky Coughlin (co-leads of the CPGT Steering Committee)
