Public Restroom Pilot Program in Capitol Hill
On March 7, the Denver took the first step in addressing the need for publicly accessible restrooms by placing a portable unit north of Colfax on Clarkson between Police District 6 headquarters and the Fillmore Auditorium. This 3 stall restroom trailer is staffed during the hours of operation from 12 PM to 12 AM. It is removed nightly for cleaning and returned the next day. This facility will offer better options for Colfax area visitors and Fillmore event goers, hopefully sparing alleys and neighborhoods from being used as outdoor toilets. The unit is ADA accessible and has a changing table for families. Information from the first week of operation is as follows:

Street Sweeping Season Begins April 1
The residential seasonal street sweeping begins Friday, April 1. Denver residents are advised to pay attention to the red and white signs posted on their block for parking restrictions. Residential streets in Denver are only swept once per month where posted, so please be sure to move your vehicle according to your block signs. Remember to always follow the sweeping time restrictions on your block and refrain from parking during the restricted times posted, even if it appears a sweeper has already cleaned the street, as sweepers may need to return to the area for additional sweeping. Avoid a $50.00 parking citation.
Want a reminder about your street sweeping day?
Street sweeping plays a critical role in keeping Denver’s streets, air and water clean. Denver Public Works’ Street Sweeping Program removes dirt, leaves and debris from city streets, which reduces air and water pollution and supports a clean environment. Last year, Denver street sweeping crews swept 113,019 lane miles of Denver streets and collected 50,924 cubic yards of dirt and debris.

Household Hazardous
Waste Collection Schedule a Household Hazardous Waste collection appointment to get stockpiled toxic materials out of your home and garage to prevent the potential for a chemical spill. Denver residents are eligible for one at-home collection appointment per calendar year. For an appointment call 1-800-HHW-PKUP (1-800-449-7587).
Only one collection kit bag is provided per appointment, so it is important to prioritize your materials prior to your appointment in order to maximize your collection. The large heavy-duty collection bag holds about 10 to 12 cans or bottles of material. A minimum of three different types of materials or 25 pounds of one material is required in order to schedule an appointment. Please note a $15 co-payment is required from the resident for each appointment.
