On behalf of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and Denver Parks & Recreation, I am reaching out to request to meet with you and members of your community for a design update and community engagement experience related to the creation of natural play experiences in the southeast corner of City Park.
The City Park Master Plan Update that was completed in 2018 indicated a desire for natural play experiences to be created in the southeast corner of City Park. In 2019, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and Denver Parks & Recreation entered a partnership to explore the creation of these community-desired spaces.
During the community engagement efforts in 2019, we heard that water was an important element in the overall design of natural play spaces. We brought a design team together in fall of 2020 to explore the feasibility of restoring the historic DeBoer Waterway in a sustainable and innovative way while creating natural play experiences in City Park.
We are seeking community feedback from you, our neighbors, to help shape the spaces in which you find respite and play and would like to provide an update on the possibilities for the waterway starting the week of January 25, 2021 and continuing through February 15, 2021. Do you have a meeting on your calendars we might attend or would you be interested in scheduling one specifically to engage and share feedback on this project? If a live session doesn’t work during that time period, would you be willing to send an email out to your community with information and a link to a presentation and survey during this time?
We will provide opportunities for open-ended feedback and surveys, and have an interactive and innovative way for people of all ages to provide input. We hope you and your community will lend a voice in helping to shape the natural play experiences that will be created in celebration of urban nature in City Park.
