Subject: Updates on Denver Parks & Recreation internal park road/parking lot closures
Denver RNOs and Neighborhood Supporters,
Thank you again for your support in sharing the 2020 Park Road and Parking Lot Closures survey. Thanks to your help, we heard from over 4,200 people, and saw overwhelming desire to continue these park road closures, with additional considerations given to accessibility (ADA and regional access), parking lot closure concerns, and barricade functionality. More information can be found in the presentation provided to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) during their February meeting. The most updated and accurate maps that outline closed park roads and parking lots in various regional parks across Denver (City Park, Cheesman Park, Sloan’s Lake Park, Ruby Hill Park, and Washington Park) can be found here.
Things to note from the updated maps and presentations:
- DPR will maintain many of the current road closures, with any adjustments made by April to reflect the current maps
- DPR will reopen parking lots in select areas of the parks to improve accessibility
- DPR will be working on transitioning from the current barricades to a bollard and/or gates
- DPR will maintain flexibility in the road and parking lot closures, as we recognize adjustments may be needed as situations change
- DPR will continue to coordinate with DOTI on all adjustments
Thanks,
Denver Parks & Recreation
